"BE GREAT Right Now"

This is one of ELA’s core brand values that sits right above their reception desk in their headquarters office, located in the heart of the entertainment capital in Hollywood. Now, you’re probably wondering - what’s this about?

Well, we really want to share with you all how great we’re feeling right now to be credited in an article authored by ELA’s CEO for leading creative industry outlet, Muse by Clio!

ELA (Everything L.A.) is a creative agency where ideas are born, and they needed both their LA and OC offices to capture the spirit, vibe, and attitude of Southern California. They made it happen.

“At the heart of both of our offices is our creative culture—designed and expressed just a little differently to reflect each city's culture, in addition to our agency's values.”

Read more about how ELA made their vision come to life while accommodating practical considerations of their personnel. Yes - with all the cool industrial elements, exposed brick walls, high ceilings and steel-framed windows, they were still able to work in office furniture to provide their employees with ergonomic solutions, sense of privacy without feeling isolated, as well as various areas to promote collaboration. If that’s not amazing, I don’t know what is. And knowing Source was a part of this creative journey in making their vision come to life with our design inspiration definitely makes us want to continue to…

Resi-what?

Once a unique approach to the design of corporate interior office spaces, the creative office blend of efficient and collaborative work spaces with lounge-y, comfortable breakout and collaboration spaces has only continued to grow in the contract furniture market over the last several years. As part of that continued growth, some in the industry have coined a new term for this burst of interest in the creative office concept: “resimercial” (RESI-dential + Com-MERCIAL). But why? From authors David Sheehan and Nicole D. Sheffield:

“Ideally, resimercial design engages the “whole employee” in the work environment – not just the intellect that comes to work. At the same time, a resimercial designer’s challenge is to balance the desire for the materials, colors, textures, fabrics, and patterns that render a feeling of warmth, familiarity and security with the pragmatic productivity and commercial durability required in the workplace. As the lines between living and working continue to blur, people are attracted to physical environments that feel less like 9-to-5 institutional factories and more like a home-away-from-home where they can be their best, most productive selves. Resimercial is a big step in that direction.”

Contract Consulting Group conducted a survey of 250 A&D professionals as well as extensive interviews with key influencers in and around the design industry to gain a pulse on the industry’s thoughts on the matter. Their key findings?

  1. The driving factor in resimercial, not as a trend, but as a new way to view the entire office environment of the future, is the desire to bring the comforts of home into the working environment. In fact, the survey revealed that one third of all projects are now incorporating a more casual feel.

  2. Work can happen anywhere, anytime, due to technology that simply wasn’t available for previous generations. However, with that “always-on” mentality comes the idea that the actual workplace must also include elements conducive for relaxation.

  3. It was revealed that the top three drivers of a casual workplace interior include the attraction and retention of employees, a more advantageous work/life balance and increased wellness.

  4. 94 percent of respondents said resimercial design principles are here to stay.

Paint + Sip

About-Pinot-Experience-Painting.jpg

As part of SOURCE’s monthly variety of staff events, we discovered a new way to unwind with our colleagues and friends. Many of our staff had a bit (just a bit!) of wine while a local artist guided some of our team members through painting their very own masterpieces.

Pinot’s Palette has been a premier paint & sip franchise since 2009. and is a fun go-to spot to relax, unwind and let loose after some hard work in the office - and is a unique way to enjoy each other’s company - even if the occasion is just called "Friday."

Everyone had a great time - can you tell?

If you would like more information about SOURCE Creative Office Interiors, whether you’d like to work with us (we are A LOT of fun!), or if we can assist with your company’s furniture needs, please let us know!

Welcome to SOURCE

We have moved into our new showroom at The Launch in Irvine and we ♥ it! Our new workplace amenities include an outdoor meeting area, a really well equipped gym and a lobby that pulls double duty as a conferencing area.

Moss+Wall.jpg

Being in a unique and creative office environment inspired us to think of interesting ways to approach our entry corporate signage. One of the ideas, a living moss wall, got the thumbs up and we got to work designing.

A series of chunky repeating laminate “slats” created just the right amount of depth we needed to insert cut-down strips of a beautiful living product from Italy, Benetti Moss. We used a simple sans serif typeface for our new logo and had the signage fabricated by one our local sources, Eric Milligan at Brand Sign Co.

For furnishings, we worked with a partner vendor, Montisa, who provided Graphite and Yellow Ella steel lockers. From there, we designed a blocky black base and a rough-hewn wood top with waterfall edges, made by our friends at Millpro. The lounge chair is a comfortable delight - Lily from 9to5 Seating in a bold yellow.

What can we make for you? Our teams work with dozens of national furniture vendors and a lot of talented local artisans to design and craft personalized solutions for any office environment - what can we do for YOU?

We love what we do and are always happy to be of service - contact us today.

A new location, a new showroom, a new…logo?

Along with our upcoming move, we have been researching and developing ideas for a new and more graphic identity that, visually, will compliment and reinforce the commitment we have to our client relationships, our collaborative company culture, and our unique position in the southern California contract furnishings market.

We have read. And read some more. We bounce ideas around and we are left…overwhelmed!
